New Epson 3D glasses designed for mobile entertainment

This geek just tried Epson's latest personal display device called the Moverio.
The see-through display can output a 320-inch image using Epson's micro-projection technology and allows you to view private photos and video in public--while being stuck in the MRT, for example.
The Moverio runs on Android and allows you to consume Android content--from games and apps to 3-D video. It also comes with a touchpad controller featuring Wi-Fi connectivity and 1GB memory, expandable through a microSD slot. The battery should give you six hours of entertainment.
If you ask me, I think the Moverio probably won't gain mainstream acceptance yet, as it's unlikely someone will want to watch a 3-hour movie on it. As noted by the CNET Asia review, it's more suitable for viewing short clips such as those found on YouTube and other Web services. However, it does signify the future of personal displays, especially when technologies like augmented reality start to mature and get into these glasses.
Google's Project Glass products are probably still a way off from reaching consumers' hands, but the Epson Moverio BT-100 is available in Singapore for S$999 from July 23 at selected Best Denki outlets. In fact, if you pre-order yours before July 22, it will come with a 16GB microSD card and Sennheiser CX215 earphones.
